Beneath Musandam’s calm surface lies a vibrant marine world filled with coral gardens, reef walls, and rare sea life. With visibility reaching up to 20 meters, these waters offer access to more than 29 dive sites alive with rays, turtles, reef sharks, moray eels, and shoals of colorful fish.
The experience is guided by a warm and highly experienced team, led by a local Omani dive master who owns and operates the center. His knowledge of the area runs deep, and his love for the sea is reflected in every dive. He often accompanies guests himself, offering a rare opportunity to explore these waters through the eyes of someone who has called them home for most of their life.

Can non-divers join the boat?
Yes. Non-divers can come along for snorkeling or to enjoy the scenery.
Is the dive center close to Atana Hotels?
Yes. It’s located right next to Atana Musandam, and transfers are provided from both hotels.
Are meals included on dive trips?
Yes. Full-day trips include refreshments and lunch served onboard between dives.
Is DAN or dive insurance required?
t’s not mandatory, but highly recommended. Ask the dive center if coverage options are available.
What happens if weather cancels the dive?
Dives may be rescheduled or refunded depending on the provider's policy. Safety is always the priority.
Can I upgrade from a DSD to a full certification?
Yes. If you enjoy your DSD experience, you can apply that credit toward your PADI Open Water certification.
Is it possible to do a diving course?
Yes. You can start your PADI Open Water Diver certification with Musandam Discovery Diving. The course includes theory sessions, pool training, and open water dives over multiple days.
How are dive sites selected?
Staff choose sites daily based on weather, current, and experience level of the group to ensure safety and quality.
What kind of marine life can I expect to see?
Turtles, lionfish, rays, reef sharks, eels, nudibranchs, crabs, barracuda, octopus, and more.
What is the visibility like?
It ranges from 10–20 meters. Best visibility is typically between October and May.
How deep are the certified dives?
Certified divers typically explore between 18–30 meters, depending on conditions and qualifications.
Can I bring my own gear?
Absolutely. If you bring your own equipment, discounted rates apply.
Is diving suitable for kids?
Yes, children 10+ can join the DSD program. It’s a great introduction for young adventurers.
Can I dive if I wear glasses or contacts?
Yes. Prescription masks are available. Soft contact lenses are safe to use while diving.
Are instructors qualified?
Yes. All guides are PADI or SSI certified and trained in emergency response. Female instructors are available upon request.
Are there other dangerous sea creatures I should worry about?
No. Marine life in Musandam is generally non-threatening. Moray eels, rays, and jellyfish are present, but injuries are extremely rare. Following your instructor's guidance ensures safety.
Is it safe to dive with sharks in Oman?
Yes. The species found in Musandam—like blacktip reef sharks and leopard sharks—are shy and not aggressive toward humans. Divers regularly see them peacefully swimming by.
Do I need experience to try scuba diving in Musandam?
No. The Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) program is ideal for first-timers. You’ll learn safety basics, then dive up to 12 meters with a certified instructor.
